Using the platform

Your workspace

After you select a department, QlikShift opens either the student workspace (for student employees) or the admin workspace (for department administrators). Both use the same overall layout; the sidebar items and tasks differ by role. For how your role determines which app opens, see Roles & access.

Student workspace

In the student app, the sidebar typically includes:

  • Home: overview for your dashboard.
  • Availability: where you submit and review your availability for the selected year and term or break.
  • Profile: your user profile and account-related settings.

Department context

Filters for year and term or break apply across scheduling screens. Always check that you are viewing the correct period before you edit availability. Details are in the Availability guide.

Admin workspace

When you select a department where your role is ADMIN, QlikShift opens the department administration app (a separate URL from the student app). The same year and term or break filters apply across scheduling and roster tasks.

The admin sidebar typically includes:

  • Home: period-aware overview and shortcuts into students, stations, and assignments.
  • Department: department details, stations, and members (roles and membership).
  • Students: roster and student availability for the selected period.
  • Stations: station schedules and shifts; export schedules as enabled for your deployment.
  • Assignments: create and adjust shift assignments from submitted availability.
  • Profile: administrator account and sign-out.
