Help center
Introduction
QlikShift supports your department in placing who works where across stations (desks or service points) for each term or break. Student employees submit availability for the upcoming period; department administrators then assign shifts based on that availability and department needs. The product uses two web applications: a student workspace for availability and profile, and an admin workspace (department administration) for configuration, roster and station management, assignment decisions, and exports. This help center describes both, as deployed for Dartmouth.
Audience and scope
Student employees use the student workspace: signing in, choosing a department when you belong to more than one, submitting availability for an upcoming term or break (before administrators build the schedule), and managing your profile. The "Using the platform" articles below focus on that experience.
Department administrators (users with an ADMIN role for a department) use the admin workspace in a separate browser application. Overview and navigation for that experience are in Admin workspace; local policy and training still govern who may change assignments or exports in production.
For how roles determine which application opens when you select a department, see Roles & access.
Student workspace capabilities
- Sign in and choose a department when you belong to more than one.
- Submit availability for each term or break, including preferred hours and time-slot choices your department uses for scheduling.
- Review what you submitted and whether an availability deadline still applies.
- Manage your profile from the account menu.
Admin workspace capabilities
Department administrators work in the administration app after selecting an ADMIN department. A dedicated article describes layout and filters; at a glance you can:
- Home: Period-aware overview (students, shifts, assignments) and shortcuts into detailed areas.
- Department: Department details, stations, and members (roles and membership).
- Students: Roster and student availability for the selected year and term or break; data intake as enabled for your deployment.
- Stations: Station schedules and shifts; export schedules for operations or integrated tools.
- Assignments: Create and adjust shift assignments from submitted availability, with assignment history where exposed.
- Profile: Administrator account and sign-out.
See Admin workspace for the full walkthrough.
